Steeplechase world champion Ezekiel Kemboi stab saga

Kenyan 3,000 metres steeplechase world champion Ezekiel Kemboi Olympics has been accused of stabbing a 26 year old woman in Eldoret on Wednesday night.

The alleged victim, Ann Njeri, told police that they had been drinking at a pub with Kemboi before he offered to drop her at her home in the outskirts of the town. She continued to say that they differed and argued before she got home and that's when the athlete stabbed her on the left side of the chest.

Ann is now admitted at Med Hill hospital in Eldoret. Kemboi presented himself to the station and claimed that he had been attacked. Police investigations have been opened said to Rift Valley police boss, Francis Munyambu.

Kemboi a won gold in the Athens Olympics 3,000 m steeplechase and had secured...

his place in this year's London Olympics. Olympics management team is yet to confirm whether Kemboi will still represent Kenya from July 27. The Chef de Mission of the Kenyan team to London, Jonathan Koskei, said they were aware of the allegations that the athlete had been accused of attacking a woman, but said they were waiting for more information.

"We are treating the matter as rumours until the athlete is arrested and then we shall take appropriate action," said Koskei, himself a senior police officer.
